There are a number of different Assessment Associate roles for vocational qualifications, including the following: external verifier for Edexcel NVQs, BTEC NQF Level 2-3 external verifier and Entry/Introductory Level external verifier. The centre risk assessor is also involved in the scrutiny of vocational programmes.
| NVQ | An external verifier for NVQs works in partnership with centres to quality assure Edexcel NVQ qualifications. The role is sometimes referred to as ‘the guardian of the standards’. |
| NQF | An external verifier for BTEC NQF 2-3 verifies centre assessment decisions through the scrutiny of the assignment/s and samples of learner work for the unit/s that are being presented for National Standards Sampling (NSS). |
| Entry and Intro | A BTEC NQF Entry & Level 1 EV verifies centre assessment decisions through the scrutiny of the assignment/s and samples of leaner work for the unit/s that are being presented for National Standards Sampling (NSS). |
| CRA | A BTEC risk assessor undertake an assessment against Edexcel’s minimum standard risk controls, and makes judgements on the adequacy of centre quality systems. |
