Make Your BTEC Experience Count

Currently one million learners are registered on BTEC qualifications. Why not use your experience of BTEC to help them achieve their goals?

We are looking for experienced and qualified practitioners to join our team of external verifiers for BTEC NQF programmes at levels 2 and 3 (including short courses). You should have significant experience of delivering and assessing BTEC First and National qualifications in your specialist subject at these levels, and a commitment to quality assurance.

We are currently recruiting EVs for the following BTEC sectors:

  • Applied Science/ Forensic Science
  • Children’s Care, Learning & Development
  • Construction/ Building Services Engineering
  • Counselling/Coaching
  • Dance
  • Hospitality
  • Land-based
  • Law and Legal
  • Media
  • Music
  • Performing Arts

As a new external verifier you would be required to verify between five and twelve centres to ensure our BTEC NQF programmes are assessed to National Standards. Benefits to external verifiers include:

If you meet the criteria and are interested in developing further your understanding of BTEC programme delivery and of national standards, you should apply online. You will need to complete an application form and a sector specific selection exercise. After receiving your application form we will send you an acknowledgement and an AID(Application Identification)number. Please insert this number on to your selection exercise before e-mailing. You will have five days after receipt of your AID number to complete and return your exercise.

Please do not submit your selection exercise before you have received your AID number. However you may start preparatory work on the exercise as soon as you like.

Applicants who have suitable experience and qualifications and who successfully complete the selection exercise will be invited to attend EV training this summer. The training for new EVs will be held over two days at University of Warwick, on the following Fridays/Saturdays:

  • Applied Science/Forensic Science – 18/19th July, or 26/27th September
  • Children’s Care, Learning & Development – 4/5th July, or 5/6th September
  • Construction/Building Services Engineering – 4/5th July
  • Counselling/Coaching - 5/6th September
  • Dance – 11/12th July, or 12/13th September
  • Hospitality – 4/5th July, or 5/6th September
  • Land-based –  4/5th July, or 19/20th September
  • Law and Legal – 26th/27th September
  • Media – 11/12th July, or 25th/26th July or 12/13th September
  • Music – 11/12th July, or 25/26th July
  • Performing Arts - 11/12th July, or 25/26th July, or 12/13th September
  • Retail - 5th/6th September
  • Security – 18th/19th July

Instructions for Completion of the BTEC External Verifier Recruitment Exercise

You have been provided with the following:

  • a unit from a BTEC NQF level 3 specification for your chosen sector
  • an assignment brief that will meet some or all of the grading criteria for the unit
  • a verification sheet for the assignment brief

Please familiarise yourself with the unit and read the assignment brief.

Once you have done this, please complete the verification sheet, answering the questions and stating any actions required. The completed verification sheet should be emailed to aarecruitment@edexcel.org.uk with your AID number in the title of the e-mail. If you are successful in your application you will be notified in writing and invited to external verifier training in due course.
